GETTING STARTED
-
THERAPY CAN BENEFIT ANYONE GOING THROUGH A HARD TIME, SEEKING PERSONAL GROWTH, OR STRUGGLING TO COPE.
Here are some signs it might be a good time to talk to someone:
Feeling like it takes all your energy to push through the day
Dreading work, school, or everyday responsibilities
Overthinking & spiraling in anxious thoughts
Lacking motivation for the things that used to bring you joy
Finding it hard to take care of yourself—rest, meals, or basic routines feel overwhelming
Withdrawing from social situations or meaningful connections or feeling strain and disconnection in important relationships
Feeling invisible, misunderstood, or unloved
-
WE CAN HELP WITH THAT.
You can get a feel for our therapists and read their bios here. If you’re still unsure or just feel overwhelmed, you can complete our contact form and we will place you with the best fit based on your current concerns, scheduling needs, and insurance coverage.
-
The fasted way to get an appointment scheduled is to complete our INQUIRY FORM. We’re usually able to respond the same day.
You can also email us at hello@campbelltherapyco.com or call (616) 745-4045 to leave a secure voicemail. We’ll be in touch within 48 hours.
-
WE DON’T OFFER FREE CONSULTATIONS.
Here’s why:
Even a quick chat counts as starting a therapeutic relationship and requires informed consent to care & confidentiality documented in compliance with the public health code.
The right therapist does make all the difference. That’s why our first session—the Initial Assessment—is dedicated to getting to know you, exploring what’s bringing you in, and making sure the therapist can truly support you toward your goals. If it’s not the right fit, we will provide referrals for other service providers or approaches to treatment.
We also have full faith in our skilled therapists and believe they deserve to be compensated for their time, especially in a field where burnout is real.
Our Care Coordinator is happy to answer quick questions about fit, availability, or getting started—just reach out!

We keep things simple—there is no need to checkout after sessions. If you’re using insurance, we’ll submit each claim and charge your card on file your out-of-pocket responsibility. If you’re paying privately, your card will be charged after each session. Invoices for any owed balance arrive to your email and can be accessed through our Patient Portal. Invoices are due upon receipt.
We accept credit/debit cards, FSA/HSA, and checks. We require all clients to store a credit card on file.

THERAPY SPECIFICS
-
The initial appointment last about 60 minutes. Your therapist will:
get to know you,
explore what’s bringing you to therapy,
discuss your goals,
create a treatment plan,
and schedule your next appointment.
Thereafter, individual therapy appointments typically last 55 minutes. We also offer more brief appointments that last 45 or 30 minutes which are best-suited for maintenance care.
Our conjoint & family therapy appointments last 50 minutes.
-
Both! We offer in-person therapy at our East Lansing office and virtual therapy to folks across Michigan.
We use a secure HIPAA compliant platform for conducting our video sessions which can be accessed by computer, tablet, or phone.
-
Most clients start with weekly sessions to build some momentum, and then adjust from there based on their needs, goals, progress, and ultimately, what feels right.
Once clients have seen some change, they may start attending every two weeks or monthly.
After goals are achieved, your therapist will discuss a plan for maintenance or termination.

The honest answer? It depends.
Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all process. The length of your work will depend on your goals, what you’re navigating right now, and your unique history.
Some people come for short-term, focused work around a specific issue and feel relief in a few months. Others choose longer-term therapy to explore deeper patterns, relationships, or painful events. Both are valid. Both can be powerful.
What matters most is that therapy moves at a pace that feels supportive — neither rushed, nor indefinite — but intentional. So we’ll regularly check in about goals and progress so that your time in therapy feels aligned with your needs.
If you’re unsure what kind of support is best for you, that’s completely okay. You can learn more about our therapists and their specialties, or reach out through our contact form and we’ll help you think through what might be the best fit.
