Privacy-First Practice
No advertising pixels. No behavioral tracking. No third-party data sharing.
PRIVACY & DIGITAL SECURITY
Therapy is supposed to be private. Let’s keep it that way.
Most therapy websites track visitors with advertising pixels & third-party analytics. We don't. This page explains what we do, and don't do, with your information.
CAMPBELL THERAPY | EAST LANSING, MI & ONLINE
PROTECTED HEALTH INFORMATION & HIPAA
What information do we collect?
If you fill out our inquiry form, you're voluntarily providing your name, contact information & insurance details. This information is used solely for coordinating care and providing referrals and never sold to third parties or used for marketing.
Campbell Therapy is a HIPAA-covered entity. Inquiry form submissions are not technically classified as Protected Health Information under HIPAA. But we treat them with the same standard of confidentiality we apply to clinical records. Once care is established, all clinical information is stored using electronic records system, Sessions Health — full HIPAA-compliance, HITECH-aligned, bank-level encryption on secure, U.S.-based servers.
THERAPY ISN’T DATA.
Sometimes there’s a cost to doing the right thing.
Our choice not to integrate tracking tools, social media & retargeting campaigns into our practice website means we've given up strategies our competitors may use to rank higher and reach more people. It’s a trade-off we've made intentionally to prioritize our duty to protect client confidentiality — and one we stand by wholeheartedly.
A NOTE ABOUT REVIEWS
We never ask current or former clients to leave a positive review and you are never expected to provide one.
If you've worked with us, found it meaningful, and wondered whether a review on a site like Google has any impact: it does more than you know— in both marketing and morale. If you independently choose to share your experience, an honest review can help someone searching for support feel more confident taking that first step. For that, we’re sincerely grateful.
MICHIGAN LAW & YOUR RIGHTS
We use the strongest safeguards possible.
Michigan's Mental Health Code (MCL 330.1748) includes confidentiality protections that exceed federal HIPAA requirements. At Campbell Therapy, we always applies whichever standard is most protective of your privacy.
PRIVACY QUESTIONS?
We'll answer them directly.

REMEMBER…
...your privacy matters more than our ranking.
If you leave us a review anywhere online, please be mindful of your privacy and what you choose to share.
NO LISTENING IN
We do not use AI to listen to, record or transcribe therapy sessions.
Our privacy policy prohibits both therapists and clients from making audio or video recordings of appointments. Protecting your privacy at every session is necessary so you have safety and freedom to speak openly.
Therapy is deeply personal, so no algorithm listens to your sessions, interprets your story, or makes clinical decisions. Your care stays where it belongs: between you and your therapist.
NO ALGORITHMIC BIAS SHAPING YOUR CARE
Learning exclusively from human-created data just means AI comes with the same human-created biases.
Your health record is no place for constrained beliefs about culture, race, gender, sexuality, ability — or even diagnosis.
AI IN THERAPY
Addressing the algorithm in the room.
What we take a clear position on is how AI is used in our sessions — and the answer is: carefully, transparently, and never in the room. no listening, no replacement, no built it bias
AI is already part of modernized healthcare. And used thoughtfully, it has helped improve access, consistency, and administration while leaving clinical judgment to human providers
The important distinction: these are ethically useful only when AI functions as an assistive tool, not an authority. It should not diagnose, determine treatment, assess risk independently, replace supervision, or make decisions about a person’s care.
Use of AI that is — actually intelligent.
NO REPLACING HUMAN JUDGMENT
Our therapists will always be responsible for all diagnosing, clinical decision-making & treatment planning.
Our care is guided by advanced education, licensing regulations, clinical expertise, and a genuine therapeutic relationship. When guidance is needed, we turn to our trusted very-human supervisors and expert consultants — not AI.
At Campbell Therapy, technology may support secure, behind-the-scenes processes, but it never replaces human judgment.
NO CHANGES WITHOUT TRANSPARENCY
If our use of AI changes in any meaningfully way, we will update you before anything takes effects.
Therapy is deeply personal, and you deserve to know exactly how technology is—and isn’t—used in your care.
